7 Lessons From Eat That Frog By Brian Tracy
“Eat That Frog!” is a book written by Brian Tracy that offers practical strategies for overcoming procrastination and increasing productivity. Here are seven lessons from the book:
1. Prioritize your tasks: Identify the most important and high-value tasks, also known as “frogs,” and tackle them first. By focusing on the most significant tasks early in the day, you can make progress on critical objectives and increase productivity.
2. Break tasks into smaller steps: Large or complex tasks can be overwhelming and lead to procrastination. Break them down into smaller, manageable steps to make them more approachable and easier to tackle.
3. Set clear goals: Clearly define your goals and desired outcomes. Having a specific target in mind increases your motivation and provides clarity on what needs to be done.
4. Use time blocks: Schedule dedicated time blocks for specific tasks and activities. By allocating specific periods for focused work, you can minimize distractions and make progress on your priorities.
5. Manage distractions: Identify and minimize the distractions that often derail your productivity. Create an environment conducive to concentration and establish boundaries to protect your focus.
6. Build momentum: Start with small, achievable tasks to build momentum and gain a sense of accomplishment. Progress on smaller tasks can create the motivation and momentum necessary to tackle larger, more challenging ones.
7. Take consistent action: Develop the habit of taking consistent action toward your goals. Break the cycle of procrastination by committing to regular, disciplined effort and embracing a “do it now” mindset.
By applying these lessons from “Eat That Frog!”, you can overcome procrastination, increase productivity, and make significant progress on your most important tasks. The book offers practical strategies and insights to help you overcome inertia and take action towards your goals with efficiency and effectiveness.
Lesson: TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY
We live in a fast paced world where you have goals to attain but due to pressures of life, we find ourselves only planning but never doing what we set out to do.
i. A frog in Brian’s book represents the challenges or goals (tasks) we set out to do. For instance;
ii. Maybe you want to build your dream house
iii. Maybe you want to buy your farm/saloon
iv. Maybe you wanna start baking cakes etc.
It’s easy to talk about the goals we want to do but how come few take action?
Two Ways of How to Eat Your Frog
1). Eat the ugliest frog:
If you have two goals (tasks), start with the hardest.
Discipline yourself to start there and then.
Treat it like a personal challenge
2). If you are to eat a live frog, Don’t sit and look at it for a very long time.
If you think about your task or goals for a long time, you will begin seeing disadvantages of how how that goal won’t work.
Eat the frog immediately (take action there and then) so that before you know it, you will have taken action.
Way forward
One way to be paid is by executing your goals. Goals are the value you provide to society.
Failure to execute our goals is one of the biggest problems. We confuse activity with talking.
So we talk continually, hold endless meetings, make wonderful plans BUT in the final analysis – No one does the job and gets the required results.
Thanks For Reading
We need to Take Action but all successful people are a people who took action and enjoy the hustle, the behind the scenes where no one is clapping for You.
