Bible Passage – 1 Cor 1:17-18; Heb 12:2; Rom 1:16; Matt 16:24-25
Lessons From The Revelations Of The Cross Through Apostle Paul
So let us sing:
So I’ll cherish the old rugged Cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged Cross
And exchange it some day for a crown
1. Power to Become Is From The Cross
If all that Jesus became is by the power of the cross and his resurrection, it means I can become nothing with God, through God and for God except by the same power of the cross. Remember the same Paul declared in Romans 1:4
Do not forget that grace is a product of the cross. No cross no grace: 1 Corinthians 15:10
2. The Cross Makes You A Debtor –
By accepting Jesus as Lord as Saviour you become a debtor – to bring others to Jesus by your fruits and the preaching of the gospel.
You have a become a debtor of the ministry of reconciliation
You have become a debtor of love.
Summary of your life is then about producing and showing love of Christ. – 1 Cor 13:4-8
It is also a summary of your life to life just and only in the spirit. – Gal 5:22-23 | Romans 1:14-15 | 2 Corinthians 5:18 | 1 Corinthians 9:16 | Romans 13:8 | Luke 3:8
3. The Wretchedness of Man Without The Cross of Jesus.
There is real poverty and wretchedness awaiting a man without the cross or outside the cross.
Apostle Paul by the Holy Spirit reveals the state of a man which is wretched, pitiable and sorrowful without the cross. Romans 1:28-32 | Revelation 3:17
4. Only Shame Is Available Without The Cross
There can be no glory of God in a man’s life without the cross.
Every man wants to be beautiful. Wants to be loved by men and esteemed by others. Unfortunately, the glory outside the cross is vain and very temporal. not GOD given but man given. It shall be destroyed by the same man.
Remember Nebuchadnezzar’s glory – Daniel 4:1-37 | Romans 1:21-25 | Romans 3:22-25 | 1 Cor 13:1-3 | Revelation 21:8
5. The Riches of God Are Only Accessible and Released Through The Cross of Jesus: Romans 5:1-5
a. No cross, no gospel
b. No gospel, no faith
c. No faith, no justification
d. No justification, no salvation
e. No salvation, no peace
f. No peace, no patience to experience Jesus
g. No patience, no hope
h. No hope, no eternal life
CONCLUSION
It is all about this Cross of Jesus and I. You cannot combine anything with the cross. It is the cross alone and it is Jesus and only Jesus.
So let us sing:
So I’ll cherish the old rugged Cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged Cross
And exchange it some day for a crown
