As we remember and celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, let us have its benefits before us. As we do let us trust God to help live in the power of its benefits. That is the reality of John 10:10:- The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. They are the proofs that in us Christ did not die and rise in vain.

| On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, The emblem of suffering and shame; And I love that old cross where the dearest and best For a world of lost sinners was slain. | In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine, A wondrous beauty I see, For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died, To pardon and sanctify me. |
| (Refrain) So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, Till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, And exchange it some day for a crown. | To that old rugged cross I will ever be true, Its shame and reproach gladly bear; Then he’ll call me some day to my home far away, Where his glory forever I’ll share. |
| O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world, Has a wondrous attraction for me; For the dear Lamb of God left his glory above To bear it to dark Calvary. | (Refrain) So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, Till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, And exchange it some day for a crown. |
Where will you and I be if not for the resurrection of the Lord Jesus
We cannot claim to love Jesus outside living in the benefits of his resurrection
Embrace it – Believe it – Rejoice in it and Celebrate it
Live only in its power and benefits
Dwell with the shepherd, for that his the summary of the benefits of his resurrection to us. Ps 23:1
CONCLUSION
These benefits are heavily expressed in the Hymn – On A Hill Far Away – The hill must no longer be far away to enjoy the full benefits of the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ
