1. Introduction – Politicians in a normal society campaign to be elected into political offices. The campaigns are the politicians representing their values to the electorates and trying to convince them over the value proposition of the opposition. Everyone again speaks of the value of currencies. The value placed on the currency of a nation matters a lot. There are things being valuable does for you or deliver to you. What do you do because of your value? What does your value bring to you?
Societies, institutions and organisations have values, core values that define who they are, purpose why they exist, their guiding principles which direct, guide and dictate what they do and how they want to do such. You must have values and be valuable as well. Mark 8:36
2. Value Is Vital – Value is the influence and power that a thing or man possess. This value can be stagnant, it can also either reduce or increase. It is not static. Some elements, forces or actions behind the scene control it or determine its state and level.
If you do not align with the values of a society, institution or organization, who cannot last there for long and cannot become not help them become who they want to be to add value to others.
The value of the time of every individual or profession also differs. When we same time is money, we mean that value of the time.
For example – some do not assist others, give to others, be a blessing to others. It is subject to the value they possess or command. N1m in the hands of two people may not command the same value or influence. Ditto an hour in the hands of two people. Matt 25: 14-30
Values control and dictate our lives now and eternally. Galatians 6:7
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
3. What is Value? – it is the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something. Other words for value – is my life useful to other; advantage to others; desirable by others; a benefit to others; a gain to others; profitable to others; good to others; of service to others; of help to others; of assistance to others; adding effectiveness; adding efficacy; available to others; of importance to others; significance of others;
4. Purpose of Value – Value is actually our life and living. Jesus said:- Mark 8:36; Psalms 30:9
Joseph was all about adding value and not a name or promotion – Gen 45:7-8
5. Examples of Issues of Value In The Scriptures
-It was the hunger for the value and benefit of the tree that made Adam and Eve sin. Gen 3:1-8
-The temptation that the devil presented before Adam and Eve was that of value proposition
-The devil lied that the tree had more value and benefit than other trees.
-Adam and Eve’s lack of understanding of the value of who they were, lack of understanding of the value of all the Lord God made available to them, made them see value in that which had no value but eternal death.
