INTRODUCTION
Our Lord Jesus Christ in his several teaching parables described and called his followers or would be followers, believers and his disciples among others such names and descriptions as Light, Salt and Leaven.
Today, by the leading and help of the Lord we shall begin a study series on the Light, Salt and Leaven to dig deeper to have fruitful and compelling life changing understanding, knowledge, acceptance and a thirst for the realities, experiences and daily living of what it is to be Light, Salt and Leaven, for a closer and more exemplary impactful Christian living and journey.
1. What Is The Light in Relation to The Christian and Christian Living briefly? – Matt 5:14,16
Ye are the light of the world – Light is not hid. You must shine for all to see, affecting them and drawing them closer to the Lord. The creation is just a showing forth of God in many facets. Creation shows in some portion who and what God is. Gen 1:1-3; Psalms 19:1; Jh 1:4-8.
Just as all of creation cannot be separated from God from whom all flow so is Light. The Bible says God is light and in him there is no darkness at all. It is when the believer is light, manifests light, lives as light that he fulfils purpose and destiny. Until the believer is light indeed and truly, he is only joking. The power to become light, remain and shine as light is of the Lord. The believer is light, does not change from light and he shines the light and in the light.
The Question is What am I with being light? What am I with God if I am not light? What am I to myself and others if I am not light of the world?
2. What Is The Salt in Relation to The Christian and Christian Living briefly? -Matt 5:13; Lk 14:34; 2 Chron 13:5
We all know salt? We have ideas of the uses of the salt. As the salt is used in the physical so it is much more of greater value, implications and applications in the spiritual. How then do I become salt? How do I remain salt? What is the nature of salt? If I am not salt, what am I then to the Lord Jesus, myself and others around me.
3. What Is The Leaven in Relation to The Christian and Christian briefly? – Matt 13:33
Leaven is like a catalyst, a fermenter, builder, encourager and a very great positive force. The leaven is like yeast that adds, increase and causes multiplication. That is who a believer is. Are you one?
4. The Purpose and Objectives of The Study
i. The focus of this study is to know what it is really and again to be in Christ Jesus.
ii. To examine ourselves to see if we are confirming to the image of Christ Jesus in our
Christian journey.
iii. To recognize and take corrective measures in humility if there are areas we have missed
being light, salt and leaven.
iv. To understand exactly what is it to be, become, remain and grow in being light, salt and
leaven.
v. To discover and be empowered to reject all that make us not to be Chris like in light, salt
and leaven.
vi. To focus on a permanent journey of living as light, salt and leaven.
vii. To impact the world only as light, salt and leaven.
CONCLUSION:
Why do you think that corruption is so deep and difficult to defeat in our nation?
May be because you and I as Christians are not shining as light, not seasoning as the salt of the earth and not leavening the lump.
It is dangerous in the now and eternally to live our Christian life without being light, salt and leaven indeed.
