The Expected Christian Life and Description
BIBLE PASSAGE – Mk 8:22-25, Gen 19:22, Gen 12:1-2,
INTRODUCTION
In part 1 of this study (Steps To Higher Ground), four main points were mentioned as basic understanding to higher ground.
1. God started well with all men.
2. God can lead you.
3. Your location matters.
4. Individual attitudes.
Today, we want to take more indept study on ATTITUDE. Our attitude will determine how we receive the word of God, how we understand and process it, which will eventually lead us to higher ground – Mark 4:3-8
EXAMPLES OF AREA OUR ATTITUDE MAY AFFECT US
1. Success rate of our prayers.
Attitude goes a long way in determining the answer to our petition from GOD – Luke 18:10-14
2. The level of our financial success
Notice that the rich man could not make Heaven, while Abraham, another rich man made it – Mk 16:20-25
Abraham was rich in life too – Genesis 13:2
Peter’s statement confirms to us his financial status – Acts 3:6
Now, let’s consider some attitudes towards going up in life.
ATTITUDES LEADING TO HIGHER GROUNDS
1. BE POSITIVE
A typical human life is made up of good and bad experiences.
JESUS, at different instances told the disciples that life is not just a bed of roses that they should be prepared and be positive.
HE made them realize that they would be offended by people – Matthew 18:7
HE also made them realize that they would be persecuted sometimes – Matt 5:10
HE made them realize that they would go through tribulations sometimes – John 16:33
‘Be of good cheer’ means ‘keep a positive attitude regardless’
Job crashed down from the very top, but his good attitude pushed him up again – Job 1:19-22, Job 13:15, Job 42:10
2. BE GRATEFUL
Regardless of where you are in life, the attitude of gratitude is a high-flying attitude any day.
Regardless of your grievances with GOD, approach him with gratitude.. Psalm 100:4, 1 Thess 5:18, Heb 10:36
CONCLUSION
Whichever way it comes calling on you, please don’t let life keep you down. The trick to getting out of the “well” is to not let it bury you, but to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone unto higher ground. Break free from all its vices and rise to the top for that’s the only place you belong.
